SEREMBAN 1 Feb. â€" Langkah Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) untuk memperkenalkan garis panduan baru dilihat sebagai tidak bermakna memandangkan ia gagal bertindak terhadap parti-parti politik yang melanggar undang- undang berkaitan dengan pilihan raya dalam pilihan raya terdahulu.

Setiausaha Agung DAP, Lim Guan Eng berkata, SPR gagal bertindak apabila parti komponen Barisan Nasional (BN) melanggar undang-undang tersebut, yang secara tidak langsung mempermain-mainkan proses pilihan raya itu sendiri.

â€œWalaupun calon untuk kawasan Parlimen hanya dibenarkan menggunakan kurang daripada RM200,000 peruntukan yang disediakan tetapi ada juga kes calon BN membelanjakan sebanyak 10 atau 20 kali ganda daripada jumlah itu,â€ kata beliau kepada pemberita selepas membuka bilik gerakan pilihan raya DAP Rasah di Mambau di sini hari ini.

Berbeza dengan DAP, kata Guan Eng, calon-calonnya dikatakan hanya membelanjakan tiga bahagian daripada peruntukan yang disediakan ketika berkempen.

Guan Eng berkata demikian ketika diminta mengulas tindakan SPR untuk mengehadkan penggunaan bilangan poster atau bendera yang dipasang di setiap daerah pada pilihan raya umum akan datang bagi memberi keadilan kepada semua parti ketika berkempen.

Menurut beliau lagi, kegagalan SPR bertindak secara adil menjadikan banyak parti pembangkang kurang berpuas hati dengannya.

The future of Malaysian Indians is with the Barisan Nasional (BN) and they must work within the system and not against it, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today.

He reminded the Indian community that only the BN government could guarantee their future by continuing to improve their social-economic well-being.

"Continue to place your trust with the Barisan. The Barisan is the future of Malaysian Indians and all Malaysians. The future will be better if you work within the system and not against it," he said when opening a one-day MIC special convention for branch chairmen at the Putra World Trade Centre.

The convention, attended by about 3,700 branch chairmen and MIC elected representatives, is to prepare the party's grassroots machinery for the upcoming general election.

Najib said Malaysia cannot emerge as a developed nation by 2020 if any of the races, including Indians, were marginalised.

"Do you think your future can be guaranteed by those staging street demonstrations? It is important to send signals to the Indian community that their future lies with the BN," he said.

He said the MIC and the Indian community had proven their loyalty to the Barisan and the government since independence.

As such, he said, the MIC leaders and members must work hard to deliver a high percentage of Indian votes to the Barisan in the coming general election.

He said the Barisan government would do more for the Indian community.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan had been asked to increase the intake of Indians and non-Bumiputeras in the civil service.

"(He has been asked) Make sure when they (Indians) apply (for jobs), don't just reject. Make sure the good ones are taken in. By doing that, it will increase employment opportunities for the Indians," he said. (Bernama)

***** After screwing Indians left, right and centre for the better part of half-a-century and aggressively pushing them to the lowest level of society through racist policies like the NEP, Najib does indeed have a thick skin to even suggest that Indians vote for the BN.

If not for Hindraf, Najib would not even have bothered to attend the so-called MIC special convention. Having emasculated the MIC over the years and turning their leaders into shameless favour-seeking puppets, the band of racists in Umno simply had no time for the welfare of the truly downtrodden among Indians. But after Hindraf dramatically highlighted the issue internationally and Umno and the BN completely lost the support of the Indians as a whole, some of the umnoputeras like Najib are trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the discriminated and marginalised.

Vote for these opportunists now and they'll keep on screwing you till the following elections. These are rabid, racist greedsters who are not about to change their marauding ways. If they refuse to change then logic demands that we change them. Period.
